MGCC Luffield

West Yorkshire    is held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Sunday 23rd March 7.00am, 3 inches of snow on the drive and The Daffodil Run due to start at 9.00am, 7.45am phone rings continually, same question: is the run on? same answer: yes, but probably not over the moors.

35 cars out of 49 arrived at Clifton Moor for the start, alternative routes given at the driver’s briefing were not required as once on our way the roads were clear and the snowy landscape added to the picturesque scenery.

At a recent Ball held in York in aid of The Motor Neurone Disease Association Simon & Angela had bid at the auction £175 for the privilege of 2 navigator’s seats, thanks to John Page for taking Simon in his B with hood down all day; Angela navigated in the rather warmer F although the hood stayed down all day.

The run finished at the Sidings Restaurant with a Pride of Ownership followed by tea & scones

John Page

Phillip Kent

Tony Duffy

Pride of Ownership results:

Third:- Tony Duffey & family, 1973 MGB GT

The Run raised £203.45p for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Tuesday 20th May natter will be Inter-natter Pride of Ownership, with pie & pea supper.

Saturday 18th August 2007

Geoffrey Wilson invited centre members to a birthday party held in his orchard on the 18th August; Geoffrey was not the birthday boy but his beloved MGVA tourer, which had been first registered in 1937, 70 years to the day. Acquired by Geoffrey in 1953 with only 3000 miles on the clock now 200,000 miles later it looked resplendent parked in the courtyard adorned with balloons and banners.

1st January 2007 - Chilly Willy Run
(organised by South Yorkshire)

Andrew Murfin’s chilly willy run on January 1st was a pleasurable excuse to get the F out and blow away all the cobwebs that one acquires over the holiday period even if the hood did stay up, the only reason Sharon & Pete had their hood down was that they had so many clothes on they could not get in the car otherwise!
