secretary of the Wolds Way Run 2010. The stalwarts who have organized and
managed the other club events over the past few years remain “committed” and in
office.

Morritt Arms Hotel near Barnard Castle and taking in some interesting and

News Flash
Due to the great response to this event we have now managed to secure more
hotel rooms. Booking deadline is now extended until 30th November 2009.

Social Weekend 16th to 18th April 2010
(Organised by East Yorkshire)
For April 2010, to create new interest for the regulars and attract newcomers,
we have decided to venture further away. A great package has been agreed
with the Morritt Arms hotel near Barnard Castle and some interesting and
challenging routes in Teesdale and Yorkshire Dales area already starting to take
place.
April 2010 may seem far away just now but block bookings of ideal venues have to
be made well in advance so early commitment will be needed to secure your place.
The event will start with a run to the hotel from York starting about 10.00am on
Friday 16th April 2010. There will be no problem if you wish to join in
later, perhaps at the lunch stop or at the hotel in the evening. For the
Saturday, the hotel is ideally situated to explore upper Teesdale and parts of
Weardale before crossing the hilltops to tour Swaledale. Sunday is likely
to be spent in the central area of the Dales before heading back towards York
for the closing lunch.
We have been able to keep the price at £345 per couple for the whole weekend,
representing great value for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast, Sunday lunch
and three road books. To reserve your place please reply as soon as
possible at the latest by 30th November 2009. Rooms may not be available for bookings received after
this date. We on need £25 deposit now but full payment must be made by
31st January 2010.

The Mille Miglia 2008 was a bit of a
disaster for James Martin but it did inspire 6 of us to drive to Brescia for the
2009 event, the ladies hoping for a second coming of their hero James. Timing
however was not good. 4 of us organise and run “The Wolds Way” car rally in East
Yorkshire involving over 100 classic and sports cars. The run was on the
preceding Sunday and if we were to get to Brescia for the start we would have to
push our MGB roadsters to hard for comfort. Experience in attending the MGCC
Euro event at Zug Switzerland in 2008 gave us valuable experience in what they
could do well. So we substituted a Mercedes SLK and a Focus CC to travel with
the RV8.

is held on the 1st Thursday of the Month
For
the second consecutive month these notes are being written with snow on the
ground. However, better times are coming and now is an opportune time to give
you an idea of what’s planned for the coming summer.
A
request for suggestions for destinations for our ‘Lunch in the Country’ days out
has resulted in a few good ideas. These include a trip to the seaside for fish
& chips, a drive up to the Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge and a rather special location
at Helmsley, more of which later. I will also try again for a visit to
Fylingdales radar station, this being booked up at the last attempt.
Details of the summer programme, beginning with the April day out on the 15th,
will appear in
Safety Fast! next
month.
Tiger Natterers meet from 12:00 noon on the first Thursday of the
