East Yorkshire    is held on the 2nd Thursday of the month.

The November Natter featured another quiz set by Jill & Greg Thornton that taxed the finest of minds, winners Harry & Janet Hotchkin. Proving that we do not field our best at the inter natter quiz.  The January Natter will be the East Yorks AGM with much business and tasks to sort

Our next car event will be the Social Weekend, 16th to 18th April 2010. Based at the Morritt Arms Hotel near Barnard Castle and taking in some interesting and challenging routes in Teesdale and Yorkshire Dales The event will start with a run to the hotel from York starting about 10.00am on Friday 16th April 2010. We have been able to keep the price at £345 per couple for the whole weekend, representing great value for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast, Sunday lunch and road book..

News Flash
Due to the great response to this event we have now managed to secure more hotel rooms. Booking deadline is now extended until 30th November 2009.

Social Weekend 16th to 18th April 2010
(Organised by East Yorkshire)

For April 2010, to create new interest for the regulars and attract newcomers, we have decided to venture further away.  A great package has been agreed with the Morritt Arms hotel near Barnard Castle and some interesting and challenging routes in Teesdale and Yorkshire Dales area already starting to take place.

April 2010 may seem far away just now but block bookings of ideal venues have to be made well in advance so early commitment will be needed to secure your place.

The event will start with a run to the hotel from York starting about 10.00am on Friday 16th April 2010. There will be no problem  if you wish to join in later, perhaps at the lunch stop or at the hotel in the evening.  For the Saturday, the hotel is ideally situated to explore upper Teesdale and parts of Weardale before crossing the hilltops to tour Swaledale.  Sunday is likely to be spent in the central area of the Dales before heading back towards York for the closing lunch.

We have been able to keep the price at £345 per couple for the whole weekend, representing great value for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast, Sunday lunch and three road books.  To reserve your place please reply as soon as possible  at the latest by 30th November 2009.  Rooms may not be available for bookings received after this date.  We on need £25 deposit now but full payment must be made by 31st January 2010.

Review of 2009 Events

The Mille Miglia 2009 by Brian Rylance

Recipe:

Take 1 Maserati classic car, 1 Yorkshire Chef, 6 MGCC car club members, 3 doting chef fans, 1 Mercedes SLK, 1 Ford Focus CC, 1 MG RV8 and a 1000 mile “race”.  Break the Maserati into an Italian classic car event, mix with 380 classic cars & loads of dosh. Follow the 2009 route at a more leisurely pace & Bake in the Italian sunshine for 2 weeks and 2800 miles..

The Mille Miglia 2008 was a bit of a disaster for James Martin but it did inspire 6 of us to drive to Brescia for the 2009 event, the ladies hoping for a second coming of their hero James.  Timing however was not good. 4 of us organise and run “The Wolds Way” car rally in East Yorkshire involving over 100 classic and sports cars. The run was on the preceding Sunday and if we were to get to Brescia for the start we would have to push our MGB roadsters to hard for comfort. Experience in attending the MGCC Euro event at Zug Switzerland in 2008 gave us valuable experience in what they could do well. So we substituted a Mercedes SLK and a Focus CC to travel with the RV8.

East Yorkshire

is held on the 1st Thursday of the Month

We’ve entered the quiet time of year, but attendance at the Tiger remains buoyant.  At the November Natter we were pleased to welcome Roy Steele who is new to MG ownership, having purchased a Midget 1275 a couple of months previously.  We hope to see more of you Roy.

Now we’re into the New Year it’s time to start thinking about our ‘Lunch in the Country’ runs, beginning in April.  Why not come along to the Tiger and tell us where you’d like to go.

Tiger Natters continue through the winter from 12:00 noon on the first Thursday of the month at The Tiger Inn, Lairgate, Beverley, HU17 8JG.
