The 10th Wolds Way Run, 2005
"How many roads must a man go down before he
" Not the Dylan song
Blowing in the wind, but Dave and Pauline Carey's mission to come up with a new
route for this, East Yorkshire's 10th Wolds Way Run. Did they succeed?
Well, judging by the comments at the end of the run, you bet they did.
The start at our natter "home" the Triton Inn at Brantingham set the standard
for the day and the bacon/sausage sarnies the taste. If we needed a third
ingredient, then the weather obliged and defied all forecasts and stayed dry. In
all some 96 cars enrolled and of those 81 were MG's supported by a most welcome
selection of cherished and classics by Jaguar, Ford, Triumph, Honda and a Lotus.
Given the poor forecast, the 12 no shows were to be expected and to be fair most
let us know beforehand. The best reason has to be " I cant come cos I'm
radioactive" has Dave a non fossil fuel source for his BGT?
To clearing skys the first cars set off, the oldest a 1934 Lanchester 10A
attacking the first of the many Dales and hills to come? The morning run
approached the Sledmere House lunch stop from the west via Thixendale. Suitably
refreshed, the run turned north to flirt with the North York Moors by way of Troutsdale, surely the most beautiful of the Dales! The weather just got better
and better so that the finish and presentation of £500 to Yorkshire Cancer
Research, took place in blazing sunshine.
So crews, thanks for your participation and generous donation to your chosen
charity, natter members for your hard work, Triton, Millington tearooms,
Sledmere and Sewerby Hall's support, to make it all possible. See you next
year, and for those who didn't make it, don't miss the 11th run in 2006.
