Caledonian Run
29/30th April/1st May 2006

A dozen cars from the Yorkshire Centre took part in the 2006 Caledonian Run. The crews gathered at the Uplawmoor Hotel to the southwest of Glasgow on the Saturday morning. The morning run took us over the moors with spectacular views of the Clyde estuary. A short ferry trip took us across the Clyde to Dunoon in Argyll. After a lunch stop we drove through more scenic country and coast to Inveraray. The evening’s dinner featured a performance by a local pipe band and highland dancing.

Sunday morning saw the cars lined up in front of Inveraray Castle prior to setting off down the side of Loch Fyne. The morning run took us to various picturesque costal spots and on to the lunch stop on the lochside at Adfern. The afternoon run took us into the mountains along a single track road past lonely Loch Avich and then around Loch Awe and back to Inveraray. The dinner once again gave us all a chance to meet and discuss the day’s run.

Monday morning saw the cars back in front of Inveraray Castle but mostly with hoods up as the good weather of the previous two days had turned to occasional light rain. The day’s route took us most of the way around Loch Awe and then alongside Loch Lomond to Tarbet. Here we met for tea and scones, to discuss the weekend’s events and say our goodbyes.

On behalf of the Yorkshire Centre members, we send a big Thank You to all the members of the Caledonian Centre who made this an excellent and enjoyable long weekend and we hope to see you all at next year’s event.
